3 Yrs of Hearing

I absolutely can not believe that it has been 3 yrs since Thomas' activation of his 1st (right ear) cochlear implant.
I looked back at my blog post of activation day ~ just as I remember....he didnt react! We have come so far in the past 3 yrs. Thomas is my bionic, bilateral boy! He loves school, has lots of friends and amazes me every day:-)
Never did I think that one day he and I would be walking through Lowes talking about the movies we saw the previous day. (I took Jonathan to see Iron Man 2 and my Mom took Thomas to see How to Train a Dragon). He was telling me details of the movie that my Mom didnt even remember until he talked about them. Heck, we passed one guy in the hardware aisle who said "he's a little chatterbox, isn't he?" I looked at the guy and proudly said "Yes,,,,yes he is"!!!! So badly did I want to tell him " excuse me sir...by the way, my little chatterbox is deaf"!
Thomas talks all the time. ALL THE TIME!!!! I seem to think it has alot to do with the constant talking, reading, over-emphasized play (Thomas is a VERY dramatic little guy) ~ he was so used to all of us talking to him about everything and anything that its his turn now!
I have to admit that there may be an occasion or two when i want to ask for "quiet time"....once in awhile I will ask ~ other times I thank God that Thomas can hear and talk to us.
Thomas has also been going to bed with 1 processor on. He told me he likes to talk to Jonathan, listen to me in the kitchen cleaning up and he likes to hear the outside noises. Although yesterday the two kids next door were out kind of late making alot noise ~ so Thomas got out of bed, walked over to his window and said :
"Hey ... why you making so much noise? I'm going to bed now so can you please stop making all that noise?". I stood by his door and giggled. I was pretty surprised when the kids listened to him!
Happy 3rd Hearing Birthday, Thomas!!!! This has been an amazing journey we have taken together ~ I can't wait to see what the future holds for you:-)
